Blogger down!

I tried working on a new blog entry last night but was unable to because the server was down! What?! Sure I expect programs such as UWA's Webct to not work, I've grown accustom to it, but a huge international service such as Blogger.com not working for a day was a shocker! I guess its easy to take the reliability of such free services for granted and proves, you can't always rely on the internet!

  1. Kris - I agree about finding a service down, it shuts our whole world down - and we think we have a choice about using technology!!! The other week my internet was down, and I started to freak about all the things I had to get done (mostly uni stuff)and how I was possibly going to carry on - then I found the whole suburb was down, so the world grinds to a hold. And I am someone who is a slow to embrace this brave new world, and yet the thought of not having access interrupts our life a great deal.
By the way love the cat voki - particularly the attitude with which it says meow, very apt.

  2. Thank Jennie, I quite like my cat voki too :)
Thank goodness the service was down for only a day otherwise it would be impossible to complete our blogs. It definitely had me worried about keeping on track with my work. The internet has become such an integral part of my daily life (and many others), I can't imagine a world without the internet now...which is all the more reason why I feel which should integrate modern technology into our teaching.
BTW, I think you are doing a great job working with new technology :)

  3. I agree with both of you. My son freaks out when there is something wrong with the internet and he can't use it! When I suggest he do something else his response is "what?"

The internet permeates into people's lives so much these days they don't know what else to do, which is sad as the real world is a beautiful place and can offer so much more than the cyber world........

I am sure Jennie will agree with me here!

  4. haha. I agree with you Cindy on this one. I do think that people have become too reliant on the internet for everything. Many children would rather stay indoors on social networking sites such as Club Penguin/Facebook than going out with their friends and kicking a football around etc. The rise of the digital era will undoubtably result in some very unfit children who lack an appreciation of the real world...actually reminds me of the movie, Wall-E.
